Anna Saunders

Anna Saunders is Senior Lecturer in German at Bangor University. Her research interests include the social history and culture of the GDR, questions of public remembrance and memorialisation in eastern Germany, and theories of collective memory.

Her publications include (co-edited with Debbie Pinfold) Remembering and Rethinking the GDR (2013), Honecker’s Children (2007) as well as articles on Ostalgie, the memory of Rosa Luxemburg and monuments in unified Berlin. She is currently finalising a monograph on the memorialisation of the GDR.
